270 PARK AVENUE
New-York (USA)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
270 Park Avenue is the new state-of-the-art global headquarters of J.P. Morgan Chase. The 1,388-foot (423-meter), 60-story skyscraper is the largest fully electric tower in New York with net operational emissions. About two-thirds of 270 Park Avenue was built on top of two levels of underground railway tracks, which directly feed into Grand Central Terminal to the south. This not only prevented the construction of a basement under most of the site but also required the lobby to be one floor above ground level.
DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICES PROVIDED
- Design of perimeter protection structures (“cocoon”).
- Responsible for the assembly sequence and verification of crane loads on the building structure during construction.
- Monitoring wind loads during construction.
- Design of a 600 psi protection platform above the MNRR tracks and a 300 psi overhead protection platform under crane pick zones.
- Analysis of the construction sequence and temporary construction loads, design of temporary connections for on-site welded joints.
